The National Trust owns some of the best historic houses in the area, ranging from the nearby tiny but delightful Plas yn Rhiw to the hugely impressive Penrhyn Castle at Bangor or the more charming Plas Newydd with its beautiful grounds laid out by Humphry Repton just across the Menai Strait on Anglesey

From the age of steam rather than stone, the area offers two of the best steam narrow gauge railway lines in Britain – the Welsh Highland Railway which runs from Caernarfon, and the Ffestiniog Railway, based in Porthmadog, are both only a short journey away.

45 minutes driving takes you to Snowdonia for climbing and walking. In addition the National Trust’s Wales Coast Path takes a route almost completely round the Llŷn Peninsula. Their new hub at Porth-y-Swnt in Aberdaron tells you the story of the Peninsula and can point you in lots of different directions.

We are within striking distance of the wonderful gardens at Portmeirion and Plas Brondanw and the world-famous plant nursery Crûg Farm Plants; Bodnant is about an hour’s drive away. The newly-restored beautiful garden at Plas Cadnant is just across the Menai Strait on Anglesey.
B E A C H E S
With nearly 100 miles of coastline stretching around three sides of the peninsula, you are never far from the sea on the Llyn Peninsula, and of course many glorious beaches! The south coast of Llyn is often referred to as the Welsh Riviera, with its long sandy beaches and calm seas. The north and western coasts are more rugged, with towering cliffs, offshore islands, long bays and hidden coves. With all this diversity, there is bound to be a beach that suits exactly what you want.

G O L F
The Llŷn Peninsula is home to three golf courses and there are at least three others in striking distance. Most of them offer visitor packages
Abersoch Designed in 1908 by 6 times open champion Harry Vardon,. Abersoch offers a 60-acre golf course adjoining the beach and is a combination of the best of parkland and links golf with breathtaking views of Cardigan Bay and Snowdonia.
Nefyn Founded in 1907 and extended in 1920 by James Braid and JH Taylor, there are few holes in world golf that match some of the holes on the Peninsula Course here. This is a spectacular 26-hole course built on a rocky promontory jutting out into the sea, and is widely regarded as the most beautiful in Wales. You can ‘see the sea from every tee’.
Pwllheli Founded in 1900 this links/parkland course contains a lovely combination of both parkland and links holes. Designed by Tom Morris, the original 9 holes are laid out through sand dunes. James Braid then added a further 9 holes.
